SEA OF LIFE

Sometimes it just hurts,

And it’s okay

It happens in life.

Your throat may close us as you gasp for air.

As though the pain was traveling

From your heart to your eyes.

At times you’ll want to hide,

Hide from everyone but

Most importantly,

Hide from yourself.

The brightest room

Will feel the dimmest,

The heart will sit heavy

& every time you swallow

It will feel like there is

Something caught halfway

Or maybe lost inside you.

The sun will make you sad,

Wishing there were clouds

Just to hide their brightness.

Grasping at yourself

To keep your own urges,

Life is worth living,

So, for now you will not shed.

The smallest space

providing the most,

hiding from your tears.

I sit in my own thoughts,

Consumed I stay hid.

I am scared to die,

My fear is what keeps me alive.

The pain gives me fear,

fear I am not yet ready to face.

So I pass my life

Flipping between fear and

My urge for life.

Changing day by day

as currents do in a storm.

I stay afloat one more day

in this sea of life.
