Monster Within

Trembling, I’m trembling.

Tears are rolling down

As I feel the warmth roll down.

The numb sound

Drowns out my cries.

I can’t, I won’t.

I promised I wouldn’t.

Please just make it stop.

Hold myself close,

And shut my eyes tight.

As if I would wake up

From this bad dream

That I have embraced

As my own.

Shaking, my hands are shaking.

It’s spreading, the pain,

I clutch my heart

As if that would stop the pain.

As it overwhelms me

With its existence in me.

The monster is taking over,

Numbing my soul and

Eating me whole.

I am frozen

As it feeds away every

Last existence of me.

I am frozen

And yet trembling with fear.

I must stop it.

Cold surface piercing through

and I let it bleed out

before the monster takes over completely.

As I sit here now,

I can hear myself crying

And I can feel my tears.

I have broken my promises

But saved myself from the monster,

The monster within.
