Journey

I used to think that this journey

Was one that I had to travel on my own.

Some tunnels I go through

Last longer than others.

The darkness of it consumed me

Leaving me left out of breath.

The light parts brought me joy,

Temporary glimpse of the ray

Beaming down on my face

Only lasted so long.

Turned a corner and then another,

Going through life

Speeding through every backroad

That I could find.

There was storm one day,

Clouds following over my head,

Raining down and washing me away.

I had lost control and the storm was drowning out my cries.

Without thinking twice

You gave me your hand,

Water filling up your lungs

But you don’t let go.

Pull me up, lay next to each other.

The storm has passed

And little light shines through,

As I feel the warmth of your hand in mine.

Who are you?

How did you and me?

No answers but I know

That this warmth is my new addiction

And your hand is one I will not let go.

From that day on, I traveled this journey

With you.

Through the tunnels and backroads,

I will always be with you.
