I knew better, But I didn’t want to He lied and I knew and I let it be. I never wanted anything Not from him, he wasn’t mine. And I didn’t need him to be. Little by Little, text by text, We flirted left and right but this was nothing, I knew I would be a fool. It was only fun, coffee, breakfast, lunch. I should have seen all the signs were there But little by little, I let myself go blind. Every excuse I made, everything I forgave It felt like there was something Like maybe you wanted me a little too? Casual, just friend, said both of us. His hand lay on my lap, Caressing, just friends, we are JUST friends. Enjoyed our jokes, cuddles, fights, It was JUST fun Until you became the first and the last person To enter and exit my mind. Just messing around, but somehow he seemed different now. I guess it was his “In Charge” Attitude that I craved, just fun. When we get caught up with it all Even the fun turns to more, This turned into more, for me it wasn’t fun anymore And I accept my blame. Blinded myself in believing In something that wasn’t there. Blindly leading myself to the edge, Edge of this road that had no happy ending To begin with. I can’t blame him for My refusal to see what We were and what we weren’t, But the way he looked at me, Caressed my hair and held my face Became more than just those actions. No longer was this game that we stepped into fun

And I should have known better from the beginning, Because the ending to this story Was never different, he was hers to begin with And I knew that. I let myself believe something Blinded by our loneliness I let myself see meaning Behind hollow affections. He was not a man I ever needed But before I knew it From all our make-believe He became the person I wanted But he was never mine Because he was hers to begin with.
